To elaborate, chinos are made of chino cloth, which is a 2/2 cotton twill, while jeans are made of denim, a 2/1 cotton twill. Traditionally, both the warp and weft threads are dyed in chinos, while for denim it's only the warp that's dyed indigo, while the weft is left white. Also, the pockets. Jeans have a 5 pocket design, with the two front pockets, two back patch pockets, and coin pocket. Chinos on the other hand, have two slash pockets in the back, and two angled pockets in the front.

They're pretty similar because chino and denim are both types of cotton twill. The difference in the material is that chino is lighter than denim, and may be woven tighter. You're not really going to see it in pictures like that, but those two pairs of pants will drape differently. There's a more immediate visible difference in the way they're constructed. Jeans traditionally have patch pockets in the back and riveted, scooped pockets in the front, plus a watch/coin pocket. Chinos will usually have slash pockets in the front and buttoned flap pockets in the back. Hope that helps!

I usually like black chinos because they go with everything, but its frustrating how quickly they seem to attract lint and dust.
Apparently I should go for twill chinos and stick to navy, as its closest to black in versatility and less likely to attract lint.

I do not like navy chinos because they fade too quickly. The best color IMO is beige/stone followed by olive green.

Lighter washes seem to be in from what I see (I don’t wear jeans anymore) Chinos can never go wrong with neutrals and earth tones (khaki, caramel, olive, navy, gray)

Since it’s summer generally lighter tones but overall it really just depends on what you are pairing with it. There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Lighter wash jeans are more Spring/Summer, but I’d also wear darker jeans for evening settings. Chinos, khaki and olive green are always solid choices that pair with most colors.

I am looking to get another pair of pants for work. I work in a business casual environment. Most people where "smart casual" but i rather stick with business casual. I have a pair of navy Chinos but wants to pair of black work pants that will go with almost anything.

If you want business casual, the answer is chinos. Jeans are not business casual in most places. Edit: I do agree with the other comments though that black chinos are a bad look. Very waiter-core.

Jeans. Black chinos tend to look like a bad compromise between wearing trousers but not wanting to look too formal and it almost never works. Also most black chinos fade after a couple of washes and end up looking terrible, while faded jeans can still work.
