I'm wondering if the "made from paper" packaging allowed some moisture to seep in from the air. Even a tiny amount of water will wreck chocolate that you're trying to melt.

INGREDIENTS (new type): Sugar, Hydrogenated Palm Oil**, Milk Solids (23%), Cocoa Powder* (6%), Emulsifier (Soy Lecithin), Natural Vanilla Flavour. It’s not even real chocolate anymore… “International standards for chocolate and chocolate products say 'milk chocolate' must contain a minimum of 25% cocoa solids and a specified minimum of milk solids between 12% and 14%.” I feel like there’s been some change in food classification/labelling standards in Australia (I used to scoff at the USA’s sawdust Parmesan but recently saw we’re adding bamboo fibre to foods over here now). Can you post the ingredients of the old type?
