I think my current mattress is slightly too firm for me (as a side sleeper) and I am thinking of trying out a mattress topper to add a bit more give.
Did anyone have good experiences with any retailer that would let you test trial a topper and return if you didn’t like it? Some stores claiming free returns but just want to make sure there’s no catch (e.g. the topper has to be unused and still in original packaging.)
Considering Costco or Home Depot at the moment.

Unfortunately the bed I bought isn’t as soft as I wanted it to be. And sadly I can’t return it lol because I would essentially be wasting my money to do so to pay to return it.
The bed itself is firm and isn’t the worst but I do want more fluff lol. Does anyone have a good recommendation of something to buy mattress topper wise that could help?

Honestly I'd skip the memory foam route - that stuff sleeps way too hot imo. A quilted topper with down-alt filling might be more what you're looking for if you want that fluffy/soft feel. breathes better and won't turn your bed into a hotbox lol. I've seen the sleep mantra topper come up a few times in threads like this for adding softness w/o the heat trap. The thing is foam (memory or gel) will contour more and help with pressure points, but it also changes the bed feel quite a bit. Thickness and density make a big difference so def check reviews. I'd try plush first and see if that does the trick before going heavier.
