Would a bagger that fits a Cub Cadet LT1042/46 also fit a Series 1000?
Make sure you check the opening on your deck versus the opening on the up tube. I just bought two separate baggers for my Craftsman dyt 4000. The first one was a Craftsman brand and did not fit the mower opening as it was older. The "unbranded" (from my local Lowe's) (which turned out to be Husqvarna) fit perfectly with no modification needed. The alternative is to search the mower you have online, find the original manufacturer's parts lists and order from there. More on reddit.com

There aren't really universal baggers. Except for powered, tow-behind units like the Cyclone Rake, which would still have different kits to interface with the deck. Baggers by themselves (for riders or walk-behinds) are tough to buy. The seller may not specify the model it came from, or certainly doesn't know what other models it also fits, and usually won't list the part number (to help for searching). And most baggers are not sold just by themselves. The cheapest solution may be to look into which other Cub models used your bagger. And try to find a used tractor-with-bagger to buy. Pick which tractor your prefer, equip the bagger on that one, and sell the other tractor. At 50", is this a 3-blade deck? Other brands, like Deere, typically go to an expensive, fan-assisted bagger (to help move the clippings up the chute), once they get to 3 blades. I don't think Cub has any fan-assisted baggers. So it's possible that the bagging performance may not be spectacular. I have no experience with that (my 2-blade decks bagged fine, my 48" 3-blade Cub does not have a bagger), but it's something to consider, or maybe look into. I am fortunate enough to be able to get away with using Cub's mulching kit on my deck, I think the results are great. I also just mulch my leaves in the fall, which saves loads of time. There isn’t a “universal” one. You need the bagger for MTD tractors. You can buy a Craftsman one for MTD made Craftsmans sure, it’ll be packed as a bagger to fit 42/46 decks - but they aren’t really any cheaper than the Cub branded one More on reddit.com
