Cub cadet zero turn starting/running problem | My Tractor Forum
On my CC Ultima ZT2, getting off of the seat will let the engine run while the steering handles are "out" in the park position, but if you try to move one or both out of park )which also sets the E brake) with nothing in the seat, it kills the engine like you turned the key off. You might get a tester to see if the seat switch and brake switches are conducting 12v when they are in their "go modes". If you find a faulty safety switch replace it, don't 'hot wire' it especially on a Zero turn mower.

Cub Cadet Zero Turn mowers? experience please? - TeamTalk
I have a Cub Cadet zero turn that I bought at Tractor about 8 years ago. I've had no problems with it and I mow close to 2 acres around the house, drive and barns. I don't know which model it is but I think I paid around $2,900 for it. I don't think I would have bought that model if I was a lawn company or had others using it but since I run it I take care of it.

r/smallengines on Reddit: Cub Cadet Zero Turn starting issue
December 30, 2022 -

My uncle has a Cub Cadet zero turn lawn mower with a Kohler engine and he’s having issues with it not turning on. He thought it was the battery, replaced it and still not turning on, thought the battery he bought might’ve been dead from sitting on the shelf so he charged it and still nothing. I went to help him and we removed the starter and it seemed fine, reinstalled it and jumped the starter directly and it turns over but when we use the key we just here a single clank noise and it doesn’t turn over. Is there some kind of relay or something online with the wiring that could be preventing it from turning on? Like I said, I put power directly to the starter and the engine did turn over but just a single clank when turning the key. Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

r/lawncare on Reddit: Cub Cadet ZT1 50 owners - do you have these problems?
May 9, 2022 -

I bought a Cub Cadet ZT1 50” mower with a Kawasaki engine from Home Depot in April and have been disappointed with it since day one. Here are the issues I’m having:

-The control bars do not line up evenly. I’ve tried adjusting from the sides of the control bar and the front bolts on the frame. Ive just accepted they will never be the same. It seems like one is bent?

-The mower does not go straight while pushing both control bars all the way forward. It feels like the right side has a lot more power than the left, so I always have to keep the right control bar closer to me. There is equal tire pressure on both sides.

-This mower is supposed to be able to go 7mph forward. I’m not getting even close to that. 3.5mph is pretty much as fast as this thing will go while I’m mowing. I don’t even think I could hit 7mph if I was going down a hill and not mowing.

-The front right caster does not seem to sit level with the left. It often is coming off the ground and spinning, even on flat ground. It seems like the wheels are not all level. This is not really a problem but I’m curious if this may explain why the right side has more power than the left?

Anyone having similar issues?

If the problem persists, the oil pressure reader must be changed. ... A digital oil pressure reader costs around 20 to 25$. On the other hand, an analog reader is relatively less at 10-20$. Oil filters are about 20$, but it needs to be changed once in a blue moon, so the cost is less comparatively. The Cub Cadet Rzt 42 is a reliable zero-turn riding lawn mower, but like all machinery, it can have malfunctions.

I like the engine and the price, but have never owned a zero turn. My yard is pretty flat if you don't count ditches. But, parts will get pretty high sometimes.

Thoughts?

I own the zt1 with the Kohler 7000 and a 54 inch deck and I absolutely love it. This subreddit is obsessed with Scag and Gravely that you buy at a special independent dealer. Anything outside of that everyone will say it's crap but the mower you just posted is sold probably 20 to 1

I bought a ZT1 42” in Feb. It has the Kawasaki motor and the fab deck. It’s been amazing this season. Fast, easy to drive, starts easily and cuts beautifully. I added the mulch kit and the hour meter. Would definitely recommend the mower. I know it’s MTD, but like so? I mean it’s a really good and well-built product, and the only negative I ever hear is it’s MTD. ¯\(ツ)/¯ Last mower I had was an MTD too and I never had any issues with it. I did buy from a dealer based on opinions from here, but haven’t yet seen any benefits from it, other than the staff actually knowing a lot about the products they sell. That was super nice. At a big box you’re 100% on your own. The dealer wants me to bring it in for a pretty pricey service yearly, but they’ve made changing the oil on these so easy and everything is so accessible, I’m probably just gonna keep doing it myself. Did the break-in oil change earlier this year at 14 hours and it took like 10 min. Anyway, my opinion is that it’s a great mower for a homeowner. I mow a little under an acre but I double/triple mow, and I’m very happy with mine. I try to buy good stuff that will last and I take care of it. I don’t have several acres, I don’t abuse it, and I don’t use it every day to make a living, so no need for a commercial used one or more fancy one for me. I could go on, but you get the gist I think.
