1 week ago - Limpet, saying that he wanted to concentrate on a university-set, 1980s baseball film under the working title That's What I'm Talking About. The project is considered a "spiritual sequel" to Linklater's 1993 film Dazed and Confused, which was set on the last day of high school in 1976.

April 7, 2016 - Preface, Richard Linklater has a very unique style of directing. In his more spirited films, Slacker, Dazed and Confused, and now Everybody wants Some; Linklater finds a way to make you enjoy a film that doesn't necessarily have a plot.

r/MovieSuggestions on Reddit: I watched Dazed and Confused, and loved it. Anymore similar suggestions?
May 4, 2023 -
I just loved Dazed and Confused. There was really no big conflict in it. It was just a bunch of people living in the moment and it felt so immersive. There really wasn't any big conflict either. I have had trouble paying attention to movies but this one grabbed my attention. This was the perfect cure to a tough week.
Looking for more suggestions similar. Hopefully 80s or 90s movies would be ideal.

The director of Dazed and Confused, Richard Linklater, made a great movie called “Everybody Wants Some” which he called the “spiritual sequel” to Dazed and Confused. Plot wise it has nothing to do with the former, but the meandering and immersive style is exact, set in the 80s rather than the 70s. Underrated IMO.

Richard Linklater is working on a ''sequel'' to Dazed & Confused
3 weeks ago - Richard Linklater's since gone on to direct such hits as School of Rock, Before Sunset, Before Sunrise, Bernie and underrated gem A Scanner Darkly. Oh, and this small film called Boyhood that you probably haven't heard of. It now looks that the veteran director is revisiting the world of Dazed & Confused with what he's described as a "spiritual sequel" set in the 1980's.

The "Spiritual Sequel" to Dazed and Confused - BmoreArt
January 22, 2020 - College boys cruise down the street, singing and rapping along to “Rapper’s Delight,” the 1979 hit by the Sugarhill Gang. The time is 1980. This perfect little scene, showing young men in their prime, looking to score some action in the days before the semester begins, sets the entire tone of director Richard Linklater’s “spiritual sequel” to his 1993 Dazed and Confused.

Film Review of “Everybody Wants Some!!” & “Dazed and Confused”: Having the Guts to Look F*cking Stupid
January 22, 2023 - Linklater is also the director of “Boyhood,” a coming-of-age film which captures the same cast over 12 years. The same commitment to capturing growing up is apparent in “Dazed and Confused” and “Everybody Wants Some!!,” as he manages to transition from one into the other without ever referencing their connection.

September 10, 1993 - That was not a thing where I grew up. This movie boasts the best soundtrack, bar none, although, I say ditch the Dylan song and replace it with ANY Bad Company song....they did just fine, even though Robert Plant wouldn't agree to letting them put "Rock & Roll" in.

March 11, 2016 - The follow-up to the cult classic, Dazed & Confused, though not connected in any way. I put off watching it for so long because I heard nothing good about it, which makes sense as there is inherently less broad appeal. If those sentiments were wrong, I’d have been surprised. The characters are all the same, there’s no contrasting styles and from there it’s just something entirely different than Dazed & Confused, which had more and better direction.
