I have had the most frustrating 30 days of customer service I think I've ever had in my life. No matter what I do I can not cancel my Best Buy Total membership. It feels like every rep I talk to is just lying to me. I'll try to recap as best as I can:
Tried to cancel via the website a week before my renewal date. Errors out. Says to contact support.
Tried to cancel via the website via different browsers, devices, from different locations even. Errors out. Says to contact support.
Contacted support via chat to cancel. I was told I am cancelled. turns out It was never cancelled
At this point it renews again for another year and I am charged $180
Contact support via chat to cancel. I am told it has been cancelled. It was not cancelled.
Contact support via chat again to cancel. I am told it has been cancelled and I am provided a confirmation number. It was not cancelled.
I contact support via chat again and this time I am told that chat agents are not able to cancel Best Buy total memberships and I have to call into support.
I contact support via phone and I am told my plan has been cancelled. It has not been cancelled.
I contact support via phone and ask for a supervisor to explain my issue. I am told that my account is "glitched" which is why none of the other attempts have worked but they have fixed it and my membership is cancelled.
I contact support via phone and I am told that the only way this can be cancelled is for the rep to escalate my case to corporate and it should be cancelled within 24 hours.
I know this may come as a shock to some, but today as we sit here. It is not cancelled.
So my question is where do I go from here? I can keep calling and I'm sure they will keep assuring me its cancelled but I don't think I can even believe that given all that's happened? Should I try in store? should I just do a chargeback for the $180? can I even do that given its a best buy visa card?
Anyone else have a similar situation and if so what did you do?
UPDATE: I just got an email from Best Buy that the plan was cancelled. Doesn't seem to have been directly prompted by a call or chat initiated by me but I will take it. Maybe it was this post.
