I would try to avoid Dell as they aren't known for their longevity, especially when it comes to windows installations. It’s a little bit older of a laptop, think it was released in 2018-19 I can purchase it for $250. I seen it and it’s still extremely fast and it is still running windows 10 22h2. I have very little hope of 8th gen Intel without a dGPU running RDR2 above 30fps at 720p low settings, regardless of what laptop it’s in. Even RDR1 might not be perfect since the PC port was a 2024 release. You might just have to embrace 480p or something. Putting that aside, based on paper specs, that’s the sort of laptop you’d buy if you simply need a cheap laptop for school or home. It’s just modern enough to support W11 and adequate for office work and YouTube. Ideally, you’re shopping for a business laptop, in this case a Dell Latitude, rather than a consumer laptop, due to the overall better build quality and ease of access when it comes to repairing.

Hi, I am considering buying a Dell XPS 13 9310 (i5, 8gb ram and FHD screen) and after reading the terrible reviews on here I'm wondering if its worth the risk or if I should just go with the Microsoft Surface Laptop 4.
The Dell XPS is currently cheaper due to EOFY sales but I am second guessing my self.

Haven't had a new laptop for 6 years. I hadn't really been keeping up w the windows side of machines lately. Without a lot of thought, last week I put order in for a higher specced xps 13 2in1 9310. Shipping date was a month + out due to chip shortages I'm sure. After reading around I'm surprised to see so many on here and other places saying they wouldn't throw money at one even if they were in the market for a new laptop. The inconsistencies and variety of issues people are claiming seem rather concerning. I had long thought dell to be one of the safer bets of windows laptops, maybe they aren't what they once were. I cancelled that order today and now I must say the hp spectre x360 14 and 13 models are really catching my eye. Reviews seem to almost be better for that machine than the XPS's, and its gorgeous too, esp in blue and black.
