Hello, I have one of these as a work laptop with exactly the same specifications, and personally I wouldn't recommend it - the problem is that although the CPU and GPU are high spec, the cooling and power delivery is completely inadequate meaning that you don't get anywhere near the performance you should be able to in my opinion. I've had endless issues with thermal and power limit throttling, and day to day my Lenovo Yoga which has only a 12th-gen i7 and Intel GPU seems to perform better and more reliably. I'm currently dealing with an intermittent 0.4GHz clock speed issue which keeps returning (randomly) despite 2 motherboard swaps. YMMV but if you look at the reviews these Precision laptops seem to have a ton of performance issues. There's just no way those tiny little fans can dissipate the amount of heat this thing produces (also the fans can be very distracting). What doesn't help here is the air intake - it's on the underside of the laptop and positioned in such a way that it's almost completely blocked if you use the laptop on your lap or a desk without raising it slightly. I guess it really depends how good a deal you're getting - personally, no way would I pay >£1k for this. TL;DR - great hardware, terrible cooling/power delivery. More on reddit.com

May 31, 2023Precision 5570, disable GPU on battery
Disclaimer: I have a 9520 running Windows 11 so I can't vouch for the accuracy of the following. Apparently, you can use the NVIDIA control panel to set which GPU you prefer. From looking at it on my machine, it's located at NVIDIA control panel > 3D Settings > Manage 3D settings > I would like to use the following 3D settings > Global Settings > Preferred graphics processor > Integrated graphics. On my machine, there is a note above the selection stating "Windows OS now manages selection of the graphics processor." but I think you won't see that when using Windows 10. If you don't have the control panel installed, I believe it's now available as a free download from the Microsoft (app) store. Give it a try. Hopefully it will work for you. HTH. More on reddit.com

December 13, 2022Precision 5570 Thunderbolt not working
This issue was resolved by reverting to Windows 10. Upgrading from a working Windows 10 install to Windows 11 breaks Thunderbolt connectivity. Very odd considering the 5540 was running Windows 11 and it worked fine, but, stuff happens. I would hope that the Windows 11 image that Dell ships has functional Thunderbolt, but it might not. Hi there, I was getting a pretty nice deal on a Dell Precision 5570 i9-12th Gen (14 Core) with 8 GB Nvidia Quadro Rtx A2000 with 64 GB RAM.
I will be using it primarily for architecture softwares like AutoCad, Revit, and some 3d modelling. Is it good enough in 2025, will it last me for 3-4 years.
I currently own a HP Zbook Firefly, on paper dell is far better but is it good enough for a long run?
