What does that even mean?
I opened 4 refurb laptops today, 1 has a keyboard where the top left quadrant barely works, 1 covered in cat hair and the bottom panel feels like it was bent outwards, and another where the left mouse button is about to fall off. I've had a couple other ones recently that seemed pretty dirty as well, but the first time I've noticed actual physical issues with the laptops.
The cat hair one really bothered me, because I decided to actually clean it with some compressed air and now my eyeballs are on fire.
Has anyone else been noticing issues with the quality of refrub machines?

Did you purchase the laptops from the official Dell Outlet or from a third-party, perhaps one of the refurbishers selling through Amazon or E-Bay? Mu guess is that you purchased the laptops from a third-party, not from Dell. If you purchased the laptops from a third-party, "Refurbished to Dell Specifications by FedEx Supply Chain" means "scam". I have purchased all my computers (Dell Optiplex and Dell Latitude) from the official Dell Outlet for close to a decade. None of the computers I've bought from the Outlet -- not one -- arrived in the condition you are describing. Every one of them was spotlessly clean and worked perfectly. All computers purchased from the official Dell Outlet are refurbished by Dell, certified by Dell, supported by Dell, and come with the original factory warranty. The computer refurbishing industry has more than its share of disreputable vendors, vendors who do a schlock job of "refurbishing", and then say things like "Refurbished to Dell Specifications by FedEx Supply Chain" to make it sound like they are operating above board. It looks like you got mixed up with one of the disreputable refurbishers. Reputable refurbishers do exist, but I've had so many friends have bad experiences that I tell all and sundry: "If you want a refurbished Dell, buy from the official Dell Outlet and nowhere else." I'm sorry that you had a bad experience, and I hope that you will be able to return the laptops and get your money back.

Where are you seeing those? Dell's refurbished systems from their direct outlet have a Dell warranty, same as new (1 or 3 years, typically, depending on the model.) In my experience, the quality control is better than new ones. The price is a lot better, so as long as you can find a configuration you like, there's really no reason NOT to buy there unless you need a model that hasn't shown up on Outlet yet or you get an extraordinarily good sale (my present daily driver, a Latitude 7400 2-in-1 was new from the small business site, and cheaper than the outlet ones with a similar config, so it can happen.)

All these years we were buying new Dell PCs . Last year someone in spiceworks discussion group recommended Dell outlet. And from last year we started buying PCs from Dell outlet website. They worked out really good for us. We can hardly notice any difference between new and outlet PC. They come with same warranty as new Dell PCs.

I’ve purchased from both
Dell Outlet is current generation order returned or open box products. Some might be a return after 60 days but all are again current gen models.
- I buy all our end user equipment from the Outlet and have not had any issues with systems except one a few years back but warranty took care of it. This is a great way of getting current gen systems and reduced prices if you need 1 or 2 at a time like I do.
Dell refurbished is Dells financing division (think lease equipment) which sells these off-lease computers which are a few generations old. In this case, your getting a older system which has been “looked at” by some equipment refurbisher and restored to functionality. New OS and usually AC adapter.
- I’ve bought a few laptops from this site and used personally and they are been good, battery life is still respectable. In most cases grade A wont show much ware but that’s subjective per say. Again, no issues with the laptops I’ve gotten off this site.
