Wow, it seems that the rubber seal (seat) is not being fully pressed down (or not staying fully down) in its proper position on top of the spring.
Make sure that the spring is right-side up (narrow end up) and that the retainer nut is fully tightened, to hold the stem all the way down.
Secret tip- use plumber's grease (petroleum jelly, in a pinch) to lubricate the seat and bottom of stem and threads on the retainer nuts. That will help the bottom sealing surface of the stem glide smoothly over the seat without catching on it. On the nut, it will help ensure you truly have it screwed down all the way.

I’m not a plumber but I’m usually handy. Today I’m stumped. I underestimated how over-engineered delta stuff is.
The faucet keeps dripping.
I started by replacing the rubber gasket and spring ( picture attached ) that didn’t fix it. I replaced the whole cartridge with an original delta and the handle now moves extra smoothly but the faucet still drips.
Help! I don’t want to tear up the wall! What else can I try before having to do that?

Long time ago, plumbers carried Seat Reamers for such circumstances, but doubtful that'd help with a more modern Delta fixture. First time I used a reamer and saved from ripping open the tile wall, it was one sweet victory.... Someone will be along with the right answer.

Check water pressure. Too high of pressure can cause this to happen.

I have an older Delta faucet in my bathtub that’s leaking. I confirmed is not the cartridge replaceable one, but haven’t troubleshot more from there.

Replace the cartridge, it my seem like it won't come out but it does. There are two types one is grey and the other is blue, make sure you get the correct one.

There are 2 styles of chrome ball for these 1 has a round stem the other has an eye shaped stem. Water off, 1/8 inch Allen wrench to remove handle set screw. The repair kit usually has a wrench included with Allen key and wrench for the white plastic compression ring in the center . Use the tool to back the white ring out a bit and it comes apart easier Remove the large round chrome domed nut, and the stem and seals will pull straight out, exposing 2 cup seals on 2 springs. There are 2 styles of cup and spring, both in the repair kit. Remove old springs and seals, clean the openings with a q tip, then insert new springs and seals. Sliding them onto a screwdriver aids in placing them. While you have it apart, examine the cap seal that sit above the domed stem and replace if worn, then clean the parts and reassemble. Ball sits on the springs and a metal guide pin, then the cap seal, followed by the chromed dome and tension ring. Once assembled, tighten the white tension ring to get the handle stiffness you want, and then install the handle

If you don't have the Delta repair kit tool with the set screw Allen wrench on one end and the double prongs on the other end for adjusting the ring, insert the tips of a pair of needle-nose pliers in the two slots and turn it clockwise to tighten it slightly (with the water ON). Tighten it just enough to stop all leaking. If you tighten it too much, the faucet will be hard of operate and you'll wear out the internal parts faster, especially the seats and springs.
