I'm looking to buy my first shop vac for general outdoor cleaning tasks (grill, garage, car, etc.) and found this 4-year old Project Farm video where the DeWalt DXV14P scored very highly:

I don't need a 14-gallon vacuum but when I searched for the 12-gallon version I learned the DXV12P seems to have been superseded by the DXV12P-QT, i.e. the Stealthsonic (and similarly for smaller sizes). The DXV12P is no longer in stock at my local big box stores (although it can be ordered for delivery or pickup, plus Amazon still stocks it).
Is there any reason to prefer the DXV12P over the DXV12P-QT? I've been reading reviews of the DXV12P-QT and some of the recent negatives I've seen are the following:
bags don't stay secured
chemical smell
not as powerful suction
Has anyone used both and can comment on the differences other than the sound?

We burned up our non quiet version by having 220 wired in a new outbuilding to the 110 outlets and had to replace it, and we had to get the quiet version. So have experience with both. I'd get the quiet one. Same power. I can't say it's any less powerful. bag disconnecting: it's got the same connection the regular one does which admittedly isn't so great. quieter. It's very quiet like sit on it and have a conversation at normal volume quiet. The sound of the air zipping into the end of the hose is the most noisy especially if you have the crevice tool on, sounds like a jet on afterburner. exhaust defusion. Those with normal exhaust ports often find a way to muffle it by putting something on that will make the air ooze out of it in all directions or be able to direct it straight up etc, something to stop it from picking up dust like a leaf blower while being used as a vacuum. The quiet one just has a lot of exhaust vents the air oozes out of. On the other hand, the quiet one does not have an exhaust blower port. It can't let you install the hose on the output and use the crevvice tool and create a leaf blower. Bottom line, get the quiet one. It's much nicer. The sound it makes is kind of pleasant and it is so quiet. Makes cleaning out the truck so much less stressful.

You want the Stealthsonic. Noise is so much better. Suction is great.

I'm seeing the DXV12P-QT available at Lowes for $139. The DXV12P-QTA isn't offered there, but I can find it at Acme tool for $230. From the Dewalt website, the only difference I see is the number of filter bags. And the DXV12P-QT got A LOT of bad reviews related to the plugs burning out in outlets, and the DXV12P-QTA doesn't seem to have that problem (yet).
Anyone know why they are priced so differently? Could it be because the DXV12P-QTA is pretty new?

Same vacuum, motor and canister wise. The QTA comes with a "bonus contractor kit", so the dust bags and the upgraded crush resistant yellow hose vs. the standard black. The standard black hose is more flexible though.

So I recently read about the "quiet Poly" wet dry vac model and as someone in the market for a DeWalt wet dry vac I am curious if anyone has one and if they like it but I also have some questions I can only seem to find two models 10gal DXV10P & 12gal DXV12P are there other sizes that are Quite models?
I really would like a model that has a push handle with two large heavy duty tires and those seem to be reserved for 14 & 16gal but they don't seem to be the Quiet models. If 10 & 12 are the only Quiet models does anyone know of a cart or accessory like a two wheel dolly style for shop vacs? Thanks guys

I have the 16 gallaon dewalt and it's definitely not quiet. As for a handle, I'd just make my own. Also, don't expect it to be too quiet, regardless of what the marketing says. My festool vac, a CT Midi I, is still decently loud on full power. Not typical shop-vac screamer loud, but still not something I'd use all day without headphones.
