January 14, 2025 - This table is 72″ long and will comfortably fit 6 outdoor dining chairs (even larger size chairs). I paired our DIY patio table with two sets of these metal outdoor dining chairs with cushions (also available here and here). They were the highest quality chair for the best price (that came with cushions) that I could find that I liked the style of best.

May 14, 2019 - I have to agree with the other ken, i used a marine finish on the Adirondack chairs I built and they started to peel the following summer and needed to be refinished (completely) the year after that. Also, I would put at least one coat of finish on the bottom of the table top (and seal the ends), cupping is partially the result of moisture being drawn from the wood at different rates from each surface.

Put two 64x4x1 cedar boards on the floor (standing on edge, the 1" side), with 37" between them. Screw all the 44" top boards into these. Put the whole thing on the table base. Make sure the existing base is strong enough to support the weight of the new top, that all connectors are tight, ...

Also as far as the top goes, should i leve room between the wooden slats, butt them up against each other, or attempt a glue-up to make a solid top? - ArmchairLinebacker · Click to expand... My suggestion would be to keep this 1st project bare bones simple. Use pressure treated for entire project. 2×6 for top butted with small gaps. (these will open over the years with the weather and drying process) That done finish as you like and enjoy.

April 22, 2024 - I like the Rogue Engineer (https://rogueengineer.com) and Ana White (https://www.ana-white.com) websites for DIY furniture. I made a table and potting bench/drink station based on some designs on Ana White that turned out great. I used cedar in lieu of pine and I made cast-in-place concrete tops for the them instead of using wood per plan.

September 26, 2025 - For an inexpensive DIY option, build an outdoor coffee table out of a few 1x4 and 2x4 wooden boards and finish the table with your favorite stain.
