One of my technicians is a part time DoorDash driver and alerted me to a new alarming program they are starting soon. They are introducing Pharmacy delivery routes. These do not include controlled substances but there is no stated HIPAA training needed to do this, just a respect the customer and do not look at their info. They state if you see private health information do not disclose it to third parties (no training on what PPI is nor who specifically you can/cannot share info with). The bullet point that seemed quite troublesome — “If an adult over the age of 18 is not home to sign for the package (recipient must be an adult but does not need to match the name of the patient), the package must be returned to the pharmacy.” So issues I’m seeing already: 1. What if the driver does not deliver the package?; 2. Do they know they can’t return purchased meds to the pharmacy? 3. How can a pharmacy ensure the correct script is sent to the patient and if not, what type of charge back insurance cluster will this create? I understand that this may be convenient to patients but have large chains prepared for this?!? I thought I might give a heads up to everyone on here and you may already know about this, but there has to be some sort of uniform plan to address this.

I know my Walgreens location participates. But for the life of me I can’t figure out how? Do I go through the app? Or through the Walgreens website? I’ve tried googling it but it just gives instructions for the pickup person. Thanks.
