So I just found out about something called LM Studio, which is software that lets you run an LLM (Large Language Model) on your own hardware? That's all bullshit, if you can run stable diffusion offline, you can run gpt-4. Yeah it takes crazy resources to train an llm, it takes crazy resources to provide the API commercially for gpt. But with a few terabytes of drive space a modern processor and a GPU with 16 gigs of vRAM, you can run any Llm offline so what the only answer on here quoting chatgpt is saying is bullshit. Here's the thing, you just got to look hard. They were releasing their llms open source until 3.5 hit it big and Microsoft wanted to cash in and obfuscate the open nature of their research. Bury 3.5s free nature. If you could run 3.5 free, it goes to reason that actually running the llm after it's been trained isn't that compute heavy. Or it will have always cost money. Do you think they dedicate more resources than the above hypothetical system, to your little query of "write me a 1000 word essay as a 2nd year law student on copyright law and case precedent in regards to llm training data."?
