Remove a stick and see if it boots. If it doesn't, try the other stick. If it works with the other stick, get a warranty replacement (Lifetime warranty on RAM). If both sticks have the same issue then it's the motherboard or CPU. I would also reset the CMOS . Answer from Bjoolzern on reddit.com

r/pcmasterrace on Reddit: "DRAM refresh failure" and "conventional or extended memory failure" on ASUS
August 4, 2022 -

Hi. Yesterday I bought an ASUS Prime A520M-A II, everything went good with the installation and I was very careful. Everything works, when every time I turn off my PC I get two motherboard error beeps, one is a short beep (DRAM refresh failure) and the other one is one long beep and 3 short ones (conventional or extended memory failure). I reseated the RAM sticks like 4 times but it still happens.

Can it be because my RAM doesn't appear on the list of supported CPU/Memory? Everything worked great with my old mobo (MSI A320M-A PRO MAX, which my RAM does appear on the list of supported CPU/Memory)

The thing is, I can't find ANY of the supported RAM in my country, or they're super expensive and fancy with like 4600MHz and RGB

Here are my specs:

Ryzen 5 3500x

Sapphire Pulse RX 6700 XT

2x8 DDR4 RAM HP V6 3200MHz (With OC A-XMP, which I tried and my PC started boot-looping)

About 2 years ago my motherboards hdmi port stopped working. I put the cable in my graphics card and just moved on, without realizing something could be wrong.

Last week my monitor said no signal. I have tried to update my bios using the flash button but it didnโ€™t work.

I also just noticed that the DRAM failure led is red just like alle the led buttons above the individual ram slots. Is there a way that I can fix any of these problems

My specs: CPU: AMD ryzen 5 2600, motherboard: MSI B450 gaming pro carbon ac, GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 2060 Gaming Z, RAM: 2x Corsair 8GB DDR4-3000 (pc is 5 years old). Bios: updated about 3 months ago.

January 9, 2022 - The first thing I tried was reseating basically everything. I tried each stick of ram individually. I tried a new GPU that I knew was just working in another system. Then I tried getting a motherboard speaker and it gave me one beep, which I figured out is I'm pretty sure a DRAM refresh failure (gigabyte board).

September 25, 2018 -

So this has been driving me nuts for about a week now. I can't get my PC to POST anymore. I got a new case and transferred everything over and it was working fine. Had to use my CPU to flash my housemates BIOS ( I use a 6th Gen and they had a 7th Gen Intel) and since then no dice.

I have removed everything and am running bare bones with: i5 6600k Gigabyte H110m-h motherboard Avexir 2400 RAM 1 x 4GB Hyper 212x cooler Corsair 650 PSU

All I get at this point is 10 - 15 seconds of fan running and no video output, then a single short beep and restart. I have tried different RAM and different motherboards as well as different CPU's (i5 6600k and an i3 7100 both have worked no problem in the past with this setup).

I had the system initially running with: i5 6600k Gigabyte B150M-HD3 motherboard G-Skill Ripjaws V 3000 RAM 2 x 8GB Hyper 212x cooler Corsair 650 PSU

After the BIOS flash on a different computer, I was getting 4 short beeps before a restart with that configuration, so I also tried this setup with an MSI h110m Gaming mobo with no beep code and the DRAM light staying lit with no restarts.

I can't figure this out and the multiple different error codes are throwing me and I don't know what else to change/test as I don't have other parts.

UPDATE: So I just reseated the 6600K in the newest board with no change to the error code. However trying the 7100 now in this board gives me continuous short beeps until I shut the system off.

My new build works perfectly fine for the most part but sometimes either while I am using it or while it is in sleep mode it will randomly shut off. When I try to turn it back on it will power on for about 20 seconds and then turn back off. The only thing that will fix this is if I refresh BiOS/CMOS a few times or wait for a while if that doesn't work. I ordered an internal speaker and the error it is giving me is DRAM refresh failure.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Asus - CROSSHAIR VI HERO ATX AM4 Motherboard

Corsair - Dominator Platinum 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory

October 31, 2015 - When I play games, I seem to get a lot of stuttering/jittering and it's so annoying. I also have some other issues. Like when on YouTube, it freezes or plays videos with sound only. Or it will lag behind. When I turn on my PC, I get one short beep. I think that means DRAM refresh failure.

Answer: Difficult to say, but at least let me break it down to what could be happening. First processor booting from BIOS needs some identification so it needs to see if DRAM is out there so it sends some basic handshake electrical to tune the memory bus and send some basic DRAM commands, it then...

Overheating CPU (DRAM refresh failure?) | Tech Support Guy
The CPU cooler logo started flashing red and the temperature dial inside the case indicated up to 95 degrees Celsius, which was confirmed by the BIOS. According to the task manager, CPU usage was a single digit percentage, even though the fans ran extremely fast at all times. After rebooting, I heard one short beep, which apparently corresponds to a DRAM refresh failure.

September 29, 2023 - I just extended the program to print out the hexadecimal value stored at data and data+1. These start at FF and 00, and what I saw was consistent decay towards zero - FF00 => 7F00 => 3F00 => 1B00 => 0B00 => 0300 => 0100 => 0000. Note that the value gets reset to FF00 between tests - but the high DRAM chip was consistently dropping to zero first, then the next one, and so on.

But every time I press DEL, I get 1 loud beep and my screen shows nothing. My BIOS is provided by American Megatrends inc. September 23, 2020 - Today when it is SDRAM that is common they have automatic refresh so you just need to signal auto-refresh often enough and it takes care of the refreshing itself. Older DRAM you needed external logic for part of the refreshing procedure.
