Black Friday is approaching and I am in need of a new vacuum, I am choosing dyson. Which version you would recommend? Our place is half wood half carpet. No pets. The V 15 is a bit pricey but has good reviews The V10 price is reasonable but reviews specially the battery are so bad. Same for V8.

What is your experience and what would you recommend! TIA

As the owner of a Dyson V10 I highly recommend you look at another brand. Dyson's are terrible and my $180 shark picks up twice as much. The Dyson will roll right over visible crumbs & dirt and leave them there (or flick them across the room).

Are you looking at other vacuums as well ? Miele C3 is probably the best overall but not battery operated.

I am in the US and the Dyson V15 is on sale for $560 so I'm thinking of purchasing. Does anyone know if the warranty is transferable to Canada? Also would returning the item in Canada be option?

Costco allows items purchased in one country to be returned to another - I have made purchases in US and returned in Canada.

I bought a Dyson hand vacuum about 3 years ago. The battery on this thing is shit. I can maybe get about 20 mins I’m lucky. Does anyone know how long Costco warranties dyson/and or returns? I’m never buying another one again.

Buy a battery off of Amazon. I paid 60$ for a battery 2.5x the size works great! Had it over a year now with no issues.

You can expect the rest of the machine to be degraded into leaking seals and cracking plastic over the next 8 years if you keep it, during which time all of the replacement parts for it will be discontinued. ... Both of these vacuums are on a discount at Costco. We have 4 cats but it is a big house. We have mostly carpet upstairs and hardwood and tile (with a couple area rugs) downstairs. The price is not important because I will be using a rebate cheque to buy it.

I am undecided but leaning tward the V12. I read that is has an on switch that does not need to be continuously pressed, but the collection bin the the V8 is bigger.

Does anyone have any recommendations or thoughts on these two vacuums?

I have a v12 and have had a v8. The v12 is a lot nicer to use thanks to the on/off switch. The v8 requires you to hold the trigger down all the time. The v12 also has longer runtime which will help you get through larger areas. V12 also has a one piece filter to clean, v8 has two separate parts to clean. Plus the v12 has the laser fluffy head, really helps find dust and hair on hard floors. And the v12 automatically boosts the suction when more dust is being picked up. V8 has none of that. True the bin is slightly smaller, but I think the v12 makes up for it in other areas. If you're worried about the bin capacity, and with cats it sounds like you might be, I'd also suggest the v15.
