My girlfriend and I are moving in together into a 1 bed apartment with hardwood floors and some rugs. She had a cat which sheds a decent amount.
My gf really wants to buy this Dyson which is available from Costco for about $400. Is this a good buy? My last vacuum cleaner was $15 from the thrift store and I have no knowledge of good vacuum cleaners. I'm willing to spend money for quality but $400 is a lot of money and I want to make sure we're making the right purchase. Thanks!

$400 is steep, this model was launched in 2018 and really should be cheaper by now IMO. Also, cordless vacuums generally only last 3 to 5 years. If you're ok with dropping that kind of money for that kind of lifespan, it's not a bad performer. Alternatives I'd look for would be a miele duoflex or triflex. And ideally you'd have a solid corded vac in the side for deeper cleaning/when this breaks.

Is the Dyson V10 Animal worth it?
We have the corded animal and the V10. We have one dog and one cat. The V10 works great and will pull hair and dander out of your carpet that you thought was clean. Only complaint is that the battery goes fast on high but I suppose that’s to be expected. More on reddit.com
