A few tips: The Dyson V10-V15 are quite bulky and can get heavy in the hand. If you want a lighter weight check out the V8 and V12 Detect Slim. I don't like to use the tools for too long because holding a cordless vacuum for dusting is heavy and bulky, so you might want to get a canister vacuum if you like to do a lot of furniture and upholster cleaning. A canister's hose and tools are much lighter and more maneuverable. If you have carpets or large rugs you'll want to have a corded vacuum with a carpet powerhead/brushroll for weekly deep cleaning, cordless vacuums are good for daily cleaning but still don't have the suction power, move the air volume, and agitate the carpet well enough to fully replace corded vacuums. V11, personally, I’ve seen both machines and used both machines in person and I’m gonna be honest, yes there is difference but not much. They both feel and to be honest, look the same. Yes the v15 might have things the v11 doesn’t but the v11 is just as good as the v15 More on reddit.com

The V15 carpet issues, in my case, are for the shag style carpets. The V15 is too powerful and it is very difficult to vacuum a high pile carpet with it. You can do it, but you basically have to move it like a broom...in one direction and carefully, rather than actually vacuum back and forth. It's a PITA, honestly, and even setting everything at the lowest suction, highest air flow, I can't vacuum my high pile/shaggy carpets. The roller disengages constantly. I've also had a LOT of trouble with my V15, having the handset replaced SEVEN times. I live int he US and my experience with customer service via phone was beyond horrible, but I lucked out and found a store local to me (20 minutes)...once I started dealing with them my issues were resolved in a timely manner. But even with that, I worry there is something defective with the detect. I've had 2 that wouldn't engage the rollers at all, I've had 4 that the piezo technology just stopped working...which I think was more of a "computer/chip" issue. I will suggest if you get the V15, that wherever you power it from, make sure there is a surge protector involved. I might be completely wrong, but since I put in a surge protector on the outlet, this last V15 unit has not failed. I hope I didn't just jinx myself. The V15 IS the vacuum that could replace your upright corded vacuum if you don't have shag/long style carpets. For regular carpets, it's fabulous. And of course hardwoods it's unbeatable. The green laser light is NOT a gimmick. You won't believe how much stuff you have on your floors till you use the green light. ETA: Is the V15 Detect Absolute the larger sized one? I have a 1,180 square foot condo, and I actually would not want the bigger floor unit. The smaller is great for maneuvering in these smaller spaces. My living/dining room are open, but there is still furniture to maneuver around in the larger space. So the smaller floor head unit is better for me. More on reddit.com
