So, I can't comment on the "free for 10 product and no processing fees" BUT. The job I left (just as COVID started to take off in the UK) was using Ecwid. I HATED IT. But it does do its job. In terms of processing fees, I can only apologise, I honestly don't know on that one. From my personal experience, Ecwid has poor poor support. They limit live chat to a higher plan, and even still the information they can give you is very limited. I was on the Live Chat a lot, too. My boss' website was doing around 340 - 460 orders a day (varied a bit, as it was volatile with COVID and the news coming out).... Ecwid goes down. It went down for us a lot. Their apps SUCK. A lot of Shopify apps aren't needed (I use max 10 on my sites).. but Ecwids are just poor.. and very limited The product page is a bare minimum. They allow you to have very limited amount of customisation (you have 2 hours development time if you want them to move things around for you.. and then it's $100 an hour) Now when I left, they had rolled out a little more ability around emailing customers (order confirmation emails), but it wasn't great. I use Klaviyo and Shopify. They have a site builder. It's very bad. Use it on Joomla, or Wordpress and intergrate them together Ecwid loads its catalog in its entirety, so there's a delay when someone clicks on your category links Ecwids Cart Icons will slow your website load speed down (using tools like GtMetrix and Pingdom will give you a good idea, when you test it) and for the positives.. It's not that expensive a month. You can tweak CSS reasonably easily, if you know how to use the developer tools in your browser Answer from NemiX_TV on reddit.com

I've been using ECwid, the free version, for about two years now. For the most part, it works really well. I think it depends on your business, but I sell a handful of items to a group of hobbyists. Ive had about 300 orders, so not a ton, but typically I get seasonal sales around Christmas. I have developed a pretty good work flow. The 10 item limit is a pain but I have got around it by the "Options" function. Think of it as a size option. You can have an item like a shirt and have multiple sizes. Or if you have a "base item" you can further refine it using the options. The one annoying thing with the free version is you dont get any inventory management. Ive handled this using an excel spreadsheet but is pretty painful. Just yesterday, I bit the bullet and undegraded to Venture which offers Inventory Management. They were offering a free month so Im in a trial period. The one drawback, and almost deal breaker is that with inventory management enabled on the part, it wont let the customer backorder the part. Since I make my own products, I have a fast turn around time and can make them in as little as an hour. I would like the option to let the customer order, even though there are none on hand. Since I have my own domain, I am looking at maybe WOOCommerce of something else. I like Shopify, but its so expensive.

r/ecommerce on Reddit: Ecwid vs Shopify Plus?
February 15, 2023 -

Hi. I know how much people rely on and love Shopify (and especially Plus) for all the different ways it can be used and customized. But I’ve got a vendor pitching me about their middleware and saying their e-commerce platform is based upon Ecwid. I’ve been in ecomm since 2009 and I’d never heard of Ecwid. BuT!… I’m no closed minded; I’ll play along. WTH is Ecwid and is it even comparable to Shopify plus at all? Is it trustworthy? Is it supported/maintained? Any data/privacy issues? Is it fast & reliable?

I’m looking for any blind spots I might be missing so I can ask clarifying questions, but I’m also wondering if I should just walk away, vs be open minded to trying something that’s not something I’ve already heard of, like Shopify or big commerce, woocommerce or magento, or… any of the other ecomm solutions that have been around and made a name for themselves.

Anyone have any thoughts on Ecwid?

r/ecommerce on Reddit: Alternative to ECWID (only need buy now checkout)
August 2, 2025 -

Evening all!

I've been using ECWID for my site for many years but recently they've been terrible! So looking to move.

I don't need a fully-fldged checkout, I just sell services via my existing site. Each service has a "buy button" with 1/2 product options which then go directly to a checkout (currently ECWID linked to Stripe and PayPal). I did look into Stripe payment links, but they seem a little limited.

Didn't like to look of Shopify....gave Cognito forms a go - this worked well, but their options for payment processers to connect to is limited (no Klarna link).

Maybe I need something custom-built?

r/woocommerce on Reddit: WooCommerce vs ECWID: Best Platform for a Small, Fast, and Modern Store?
November 4, 2024 -

Hi everyone,

I’m a new entrepreneur looking to set up an online store. I’m trying to decide between WooCommerce and ECWID, and I’d love some advice.

Here’s what I’m looking for: • A fast, modern-looking website. • Less than 10 products (they won’t change • Easy-to-manage setup with minimal maintenance.

With WooCommerce, I understand I’ll likely need plugins for things like: Abandoned cart recovery, Social media integration, Discount codes, LiveChat, SEO optimization.

I’m worried about hidden costs with WooCommerce, especially since plugins can add up. I also know some developers on Fiverr or Upwork offer cheap setups, but they might use nulled plugins, which seems risky in the long run.

On the other hand, ECWID’s Venture plan includes many of these features, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the monthly cost compared to WooCommerce.

Considering I have a small, fixed product range and want a fast, clean store, which platform do you think is better?

Is WooCommerce worth the extra setup and potential plugin costs?

Or is ECWID a more straightforward, low-maintenance option for a small business like mine?

I’d love to hear your thoughts, especially about real-world costs and must-have plugins!

Thanks! 😊

In terms of its disadvantages, Ecwid’s SEO features could be better, its pricing is inconsistent across different countries and it only lets you create product variants on its more expensive plans. There’s no free trial available for the platform either. Ecwid has a lot going for it. It can be used entirely for free, lets you add ecommerce to any website and comes with good features for selling in different languages and currencies. Its 'Instant Site' feature represents a really easy way to get a one-page store of the ground, and will suit a lot of ecommerce beginners nicely. Its SEO features
