I considered it pretty strongly. Ended up not going with it. It has some limitations without starting to pay for it of course. It was more money that I wanted to pay right now since I have very little confidence in how much my website will be making in the short-term. I'm wondering the same thing... I want to build my website with Pixpa which does have ecommerce capabilities. But do I need Ecwid too? Or can I start with just Ecwid? They have made a lot of improvements and it is MUCH less expensive than Shopify.

So, I can't comment on the "free for 10 product and no processing fees" BUT. The job I left (just as COVID started to take off in the UK) was using Ecwid. I HATED IT. But it does do its job. In terms of processing fees, I can only apologise, I honestly don't know on that one. From my personal experience, Ecwid has poor poor support. They limit live chat to a higher plan, and even still the information they can give you is very limited. I was on the Live Chat a lot, too. My boss' website was doing around 340 - 460 orders a day (varied a bit, as it was volatile with COVID and the news coming out).... Ecwid goes down. It went down for us a lot. Their apps SUCK. A lot of Shopify apps aren't needed (I use max 10 on my sites).. but Ecwids are just poor.. and very limited The product page is a bare minimum. They allow you to have very limited amount of customisation (you have 2 hours development time if you want them to move things around for you.. and then it's $100 an hour) Now when I left, they had rolled out a little more ability around emailing customers (order confirmation emails), but it wasn't great. I use Klaviyo and Shopify. They have a site builder. It's very bad. Use it on Joomla, or Wordpress and intergrate them together Ecwid loads its catalog in its entirety, so there's a delay when someone clicks on your category links Ecwids Cart Icons will slow your website load speed down (using tools like GtMetrix and Pingdom will give you a good idea, when you test it) and for the positives.. Honestly hate to be Brutual but you asked for it. All these people talking about setting up an online store in 30 mins or overnight is complete and utter rubbish. A website made with love and confidence will take you easily hours, nights and months of work. Even if you are to use elementor a drag and drop website builder powered on woocommerce.

You need to design professional banners, you need to take professional and persuading photography shots, you have to write up all the text that will go on the website.

You can’t throw a quick and dirty site together and expect it to bring in sales, it will just turn people off and think it is a scam.

My e-commerce store took me about 7 8 months to develop thats with the help of me and 2 coders. It also costed me thousands upfront that was well worth the investment.

In your situation I would rather go with a platform like Etsy, Amazon, eBay etc.

A website needs work and a lot of maintenance.

As for Ecwid I have never used myself but have looked into it it is very similar to woocommerce. I would choose woocommerce as it has a much higher community and is a lot more reliable.
