English has way more synonyms and homonyms than any other language. The concept of a thesaurus doesn't even exist in most languages. It's also the only language with quirks that natives understand intuitively, but learners have to memorize.
Also just a lot of peculiar grammar quirks that native speakers understand intuitively, but are hard to teach The only way you can say this is if you've never learned anything about any foreign language ever. In normal English, execute and kill are synonyms, but on a computer, they're antonyms
They aren't always synonyms in English either. Execute and kill can refer to plans and have been used that way for decades. I'm not sure if they preceded the CS use of those terms or not, but they've been around. More on reddit.com

IRL BadLinguistics: "English is the language with the most words and synonyms."
If you take the number of words to be the size of an average adult's lexicon, then probably not. If we're talking about the number of words that you'd find in a hypothetical completely exhaustive dictionary of English, then I'd say he'd probably be right - by virtue of the sheer number of people who speak or have spoken the language. As for the synonyms thing, everyone knows the Eskimos would win. More on reddit.com
