I have an assignment due in a week where we have to create a password file of all known dictionary words with their hash values. Now i know how to hash the words and store it. But i am having trouble in getting a list of all dictionary words.
I was thinking to implement this by having 26 files for words starting with each letter. For eg, A.txt will have all words starting with A, B.txt will have words starting with B. with one word in one line
I want to read a file with these words, run a loop through it and store its hash in a different output file. For password: <hash value for password>
Please help me get this list of words lol.

Follow up question: How far would you have to go to have read every word at least once?
My partner and I debated this for at least ten minutes the other night and we’re genuinely befuddled. I’ve think you would encounter the last word in the definition for something else before you got to the last page, he’s convinced that there must be some words that don’t repeat even once.

I expect there are plenty obscure words beginning with Z that simply aren't used elsewhere. Is a word right near the end like "Zymogenesis" or "zygosporangium" being used in another entry? Almost certainly not.

This is a great question. I think I am on your partner's side, but only because I googled 'last word alphabetically' and a couple of possibilities that are the last words in some dictionaries came up: Zyzzyva which is a type of Weevil, and Zyxst, which is an obsolete word meaning sixth. Both of these words are so obscure that I don't think they would be used in the definitions of any earlier words in the dictionary. If the last word were something more normal, then you would have been right.

Idk I feel like there is a lot of stuff that isn't there. The names of specific objects that only work in certain contexts. It's hard to think of any at the top of my head but like for example a word that only exists in the subject of, say, chemistry. Is that word in the dictionary? Just for example.

That is because only chemists would probably need that word. I have learned a little bit of organic chemistry, and based on the naming rules, there would be way too many words. It would just dilute the dictionary and make it less useful for other people.

For industry specific terms, they have their own lexicon outside of a given language. The dictionary has all English words, but you can think of other terms as a different language in a sense
