What about /usr/share/dict/words on any Unix system? How many words are we talking about? Like OED-Unabridged?

For an English dictionary .txt file, you can use Custom Dictionary.
You can also generate a list aspell or wordlist with own settings.
Also you can take a look at http://wordlist.sourceforge.net/
Only english words: http://www.math.sjsu.edu/~foster/dictionary.txt
I'm looking for a comprehensive English dictionary/wordlist (i.e. a simple list of English words, without definitions or other information) in plaintext form. Ideally this would include regional variations in spelling (i.e. both British and American versions) and inflected forms (e.g. not only "play" but also "plays", "played" etc.)
I'm building a random word generator. I'd like to limit the results to nouns only.
So far, I've found lists like dwyl/english-words, but this outputs all the words in the English language.
Is there a list that is only limited to nouns?
I have an assignment due in a week where we have to create a password file of all known dictionary words with their hash values. Now i know how to hash the words and store it. But i am having trouble in getting a list of all dictionary words.
I was thinking to implement this by having 26 files for words starting with each letter. For eg, A.txt will have all words starting with A, B.txt will have words starting with B. with one word in one line
I want to read a file with these words, run a loop through it and store its hash in a different output file. For password: <hash value for password>
Please help me get this list of words lol.
