June 4, 2025 - 90% of my tools are Festool so it’s safe to say I’m a Festool Fan. However, the Planex just didn’t do it for me. Way too many settings to mess about with and I always felt that I was fighting with the sander. Either the suction was too high, so unable to move, or too low making it hard to keep it held against the ceiling.

Festool also makes my favorite cordless drywall gun, better than Hilti and very reasonably priced.

September 10, 2020 - You will want to invest in sandpaper and pads just like festool, but this will hook up to the festool vac. ... Well it looks like you're about to get three different answers and I think the reason is location. If you live in an area with smooth walls your first sander should definitely be an ets 125, I've found 120 granat paper to be the best for it. Sounds too rough I know but I promise it's not. I can sand drywall patches directly over my head and not have a spec of dust fall on me, it's a game changer.

October 18, 2009 - Brice,I,ve done this with Rotex 150 and brilliant2 120 grit.Full suction with very little dust.I even tried rotary mode briefly to see what happened.Well, it just became a bit uncontrollable but didn't destroy the wall.I think there must be fair difference in compound hardness between European and USA.I wouldn,t consider hand sanding .I used to use 1/3 sheet RO but found the Rotex to be far better.I certainly hope the Rotex can handle a bit of plaster dust!I have an old Festool catalogue showing sanders being used for this purpose so if it's good enough for Festool. ... Honestly, before you even consider sanding drywall mud, consider applying it to minimize sanding.

February 18, 2005 - I bought a Festool sander after reading a review or two. It is a great sander and is well made, but it is terrible for dust collection. One of the reviews I read rated it the best for collection!

June 5, 2021 - It truly is a nice kit stored in one systainer (and yes I know its an XXL systainer but it’s still nice!). This drywall sander will crush it during the drywall stage and will absolutely crush it on the finish stage.

June 27, 2025 - I believe Festool makes an attachment sleeve for attaching two hoses together. I didn’t have one of those, so I just taped the hoses together—that has worked fine over the years for me. Another concern is whether the new Planex with the smaller holes will work for popcorn ceiling removal, like my older sanders do. That I will have to test; for now, I will be using this new sander just for drywall sanding.
