What are some popular brands of fire pits in stock near me?
Are there benefits to using a fire pit ring rather than building a fire directly on the ground?
I'm looking for a fire pit that is safe and simple to use. What features help with that?

Edit: Thanks everyone for the rapid responses! I'll let the neighbors know to get rid of the fire pit, as the landlords are clearly allowed for liabilities to be removed from the property.

Hey Chicago! Asking for our neighbors who live behind our building. Our mutual landlords are asking them to get rid of their portable fire pit. I know Chicago allows fire pits when they're covered by mesh and not on a flammable structure. It's several feet away from lighting anything on fire. If this isn't allowed, I'm guessing a bbq grill would be off-limits, too.
Here's a pic of the pit: https://imgur.com/a/ekwKcVf
What do you think? Are the landlords allowed to tell my neighbors to get rid of their stuff? Thanks for the advice!
