python - Taking the floor of a float - Stack Overflow
I have found two ways of taking floors in Python: 3.1415 // 1 and import math math.floor(3.1415) The problem with the first approach is that it return a float (namely 3.0). The second approach f... More on stackoverflow.com
floor() function isn't working
After all that, you don't even necessarily need math.floor if you want an integer because int already works like that. At least for positive numbers. print(int(69.696969)) # 69 More on reddit.com

Why does round(0.5) = 0?
Specifically, because it uses the "ties to even" rounding rule (there is more than one rule allowed by the IEEE standard) as it's more fair statistically
More on reddit.comWhat is the syntax of the Python floor function?
The syntax is: math.floor(x)Here, x is the numeric value you want to round down. It returns an integer value.

How is floor function Python different from trunc()?
math.floor() always rounds down, while math.trunc() simply removes the decimal part. For example, math.trunc(-2.9) returns -2, but math.floor(-2.9) returns -3.

Python Double Slash (//) Operator: Floor Division – LearnDataSci
In Python, we can perform floor division (also sometimes known as integer division) using the // operator. This operator will divide the first argument by the second and round the result down to the nearest whole number, making it equivalent to the math.floor() function.

As long as your numbers are positive, you can simply convert to an int to round down to the next integer:
>>> int(3.1415)
3
For negative integers, this will round up, though.

You can call int() on the float to cast to the lower int (not obviously the floor but more elegant)
int(3.745) #3
Alternatively call int on the floor result.
from math import floor
f1 = 3.1415
f2 = 3.7415
print floor(f1) # 3.0
print int(floor(f1)) # 3
print int(f1) # 3
print int(f2) # 3 (some people may expect 4 here)
print int(floor(f2)) # 3
