19 hours ago - In 1843, Edward Newman thought pterosaurs were flying marsupials. Ironically, as the "bat model" depicted pterosaurs as warm-blooded and furred, it would turn out to be more correct in certain aspects than Cuvier's "reptile model" in the long run. Pterosaur is the name of the group, it contains all genera like Pteranodon, Pterodactylus, Quetzalcoatlus, Dimorphodon, etc... Pterodactyl is an ambiguous term. It can either designate the group Pterodactyloidea, which includes (to simplify) tail-less pterosaurs from the Cretaceous, or either designate the genus Pterodactylus. Pteranodon (I think that's what you meant when you wrote Pterodon) is a genus of pterosaur. I hope it was clear, if not, don't hesitate to ask!
