What type of suit for women should you wear to a wedding?
Curious about what to wear to a wedding? A woman's pantsuit is an excellent choice, as it can easily be worn to cocktail, semi-formal, and formal affairs. For casual weddings, such as beach and garden party wedding themes, draw on the environment of the event with a women's tan suit or light blue suit that exudes a relaxed appearance that still feels appropriate and dressed up. For formal ceremonies, stick to the classics, like a women's black suit, that give a touch of elegance and timeless style.
When deciding on your wedding look, consider the dress code listed on the invitation to ensure you match the ambiance. For events requesting black-tie wedding guest attire, for example, you may want to reach for a women's black tuxedo or evening gown that demonstrates timeless elegance. You can always layer a suit or tuxedo jacket over a wedding guest dress to style your look, too.
How should a women's wedding suit fit?
Comfort is key when it comes to your wedding look, whether you're a bride, marrier, guest, or wedding party member. The first step in comfortable fit is to ensure your women's wedding suit isn't too tight or too loose. To achieve this balance, start by buttoning your blazer to identify whether there is any pulling or gaping, which can indicate an improper fit. Then, assess your suit sleeve length. Your sleeves should rest toward right around your wrist bone, with the suit shoulders aligning where your arm and shoulder meet.
As for your dress pants, you shouldn't notice any bunching or tightness. Instead, you want your pants to rest comfortably along your waist to allow you to move freely with ease. The legs should comfortably taper, and the ankle notch should hit right around the ankle itself.

Can a bride wear a suit?
On your wedding day, you make the rules. Women's wedding suits are becoming increasingly popular choices to wear at the altar on your big day. Wearing a women's pantsuit for your wedding allows you to express your personal style while maintaining comfort and breaking away from traditional gendered wedding norms. Not only can a women's wedding suit make a bold fashion statement, but with the right accessories, you can create a stunning, cool, or polished wedding day look to get you feeling your best on your biggest day.
I went to Babaton today and asked if they had a fitted suit (as in just not the oversized trend) for a /formal/ wedding in the spring.
They suggest an olive belted blazer, a cropped blazer, and a collarless unstructured blazer. I felt a little crazy cause none of these looked remotely formal. I won’t even get into the pants, they only had wide leg and it seemed so “office wear” to me. Was I wrong?
And if I’m right, where the heck do I get a modern women’s suit of decent quality? I tried banana republic too and that was 1) mostly too expensive and 2) so oversized and unflattering.
Please help 🙃 I’m in Canada btw.
This is a suit I found from J Crew. The wedding is going to be formal and says for ladies to avoid white, ivory, cream, or champagne colors. It also says "...suggest women wear a formal dress or a nice pantsuit." It would be my first time wearing a suit to a wedding and I'm afraid this might feel more business.
I’m finally going to a wedding and have the perfect excuse to buy an attractive fitted feminine suit, but I have no idea where to start! Anyone got the tea on feminine suits?
Edit: Wedding is in South Carolina in April with a cocktail attire dress code!
