I recently made a bunch with Inkarnate.com, but I would really like something better. Thanks in advance!
Hello my fellow fantasy writers. I am querying the Internet in hopes to find some resources and or tools, preferably free, that would help me improve upon this map of which I am trying to make for a current story that I am working on. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time and suggestions my good people. Please have a splendid day!

Wrote a zero-to-hero tutorial for making battlemaps in Photoshop. You can get the old version - CS2 - for free, and it does everything you need. Takes some setup, but allows for a lot of freedom. Also totally free.

Perhaps some of you here are able to recommend me good tools and sources for map creation? I am looking specifically for those which allow creation of fictional and creative maps (cities, towns, lands, continents, the whole globe).
Please do not recommend Azgaar or Watabou since I am already familiar with them!
This isnt mine. I deserve none of the credit, that's for the guys and girls who make it.
It is however, amazing. Makes fantasy worlds, populated them with loads of customisable stuff and makes a lovely map.
It is great. Also somehow free

This is a very cool tool for sure, if anyone is interested they have their own subreddit:

Looks like it breaks out into other separate generator projects, like for the map and haraldry.
Does it use something like One Page Dungeon?
I’ve been writing my own fantasy novel for two years now. I have about 275 manuscript pages written. I’ve drawn maps for my world building however I want to take my map to the next level. I have browsed the internet for the best map making software. These days you can’t rely on reviews from the consumer site. Can anyone help me out with a recommendation for map making software? I would appreciate any input from those with wisdom and experience using such software.
Hi, can someone please help me find an app or website to make a fantasy map? I want to try my hand a writing, and i have so many ideas, but i really want to be able make a layout of my world first.
Im looing for something to help me create world maps, kingdoms/countries, towns, etc.
I dont want anything AI generated that i cant change or cant control the change, but something i can edit myself like adding an island or adjusting the layout of the lands, rivers, kingdoms, and biomes. It would also help if i could add notes to specific names or lands.
I know this is probably a lot, but please and thank you guys! Im perfectly fine using multiple apps/websites for different things like towns/kingdom layouts and world building!
In your experience, what world map generator (free or otherwise) has given the most naturalistic results? I'm not opposed to paying for map software if it gives good results.
Does anyone have any good recommendations for free mapping software or online programs? I'm kind of terrible at drawing by hand, but need to make a map for my current WIP. Any ideas would be appreciated!
I'm a conlanger but I wanted to make a world for the conlang to be spoken in. I have all the lore and language and everything I just don't have a map to dump it onto. Is there a good website with friendly interfaces or just some way to make a map? I can't find anything and figured this may be a place to ask?
Hey guys, i just want to let you know that Azgaar has some troubling with his time (full time job, AI upcoming project) so any volunteering from some of us to further support his freeware would save the project from being stagnaned. If you can raise his patreon subscribers (200/500 currently) with any way, he is willing to quit his job and focus more on this, crucial for the worldbuilding community tool.
This is his PATREON
And this is the TOOL
Hi everyone! I’m the creator of Fantasy Town Generator, a free tool for generating fantasy settlements, from tiny hamlets to large cities. You can create a settlement in seconds, and then explore the buildings and people that have been created for you.
Some key features:
Many map options - rivers, coasts, districts, walls, and more
Clickable buildings - see what each one is, what it sells, and who’s currently there
Detailed people - appearance, personality, relationships, and stats
Time simulation - change the time of day and people will move around
Factions & events - secret meetings, conflicts, and story hooks for DMs
Fully customizable - edit everything, including the map, or start from a blank canvas
Foundry VTT and Roll20 integration - share maps with players for interactive sessions
It’s free, and no login is required unless you want to save settlements to the cloud. Note, there is a premium tier that unlocks unlimited settlements and some other features.
I’ve been working on this as a passion project for the last few years, and I’m still actively working on it. You can join the discord to get regular updates and share feedback: https://discord.com/invite/RrUNpebjGD
