What are you favorite podcasts geared for women?

I'm rather fond of Stuff Mom Never Told You. Actually, pretty much everything from HowStuffWorks is great. Stuff Mom Never Told You is their only one dedicated solely to women's issues, but if you're also looking for podcasts with female podcasters, there's also TechStuff, Stuff to Blow Your Mind, and Stuff You Missed in History.

My two personal favorite podcasts are Stuff You Should Know and Welcome to Night Vale. Stuff You Should Know is a well-researched and easygoing podcast that covers all sorts of topics (manhunts, sharks, vultures, asexuality, death, surfing, bigfoot, and everything in between), and Welcome to Night Vale is... a weird cross between the Twilight Zone, the War of the Worlds radio broadcast, Neil Gaiman, and HP Lovecraft.

Hey y'all! I just turned 30 and in my "holy crap I'm a REAL GROWN UP" panic, I'm looking for some self-help podcasts to help me feel more like a real grown up. I'd love some recs! Plain ol' podcasts are fine, but spiritual woo-woo hippy dippy podcasts are more than welcome too! Thanks!!

I am AFAB and like to keep in touch with gender stuff. I minored in gender studies and started listening to Woman’s Hour as part of that. These days it’s mostly transphobia, the BBC talks about balance but they never interview pro trans advocates. I won’t rant about that, and I don’t want any kind of political debate, I just need something similar to Woman’s Hour without the blatant prejudice. Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

I have noticed the BBC's conservatism (transphobia, racism, but in particular their imperialism and pro-business classism) in the last few years more than ever before. This is not to say it has necessarily moved further to the right (idk), but I definitely notice it more. I can't think of what all is covered on Woman's Hour, not sure if I have ever listened to it. Of the BBC, I only really listen to the World Service news hour. Anyway, it sounds pretty broad? Our Body Politic - "A podcast unapologetically reporting how women of color impact today’s major political events." I know from this description it sounds like it's all about politics, but it's more that thoughtfully discussing the intersection of gender and race IS inherently political. The show mostly focuses on the US, but they sometimes discuss international issues I think. ...UNFORTUNATELY it looks like Our Body Politic went on hiatus a couple months ago :( so they won't have current stories. That must be why I didn't find them in NPR's podcast lineup. I know I have listened and enjoyed the show. Really too bad. So I just checked out the webpage for Women's Hour and it looks like it's largely interviews with celebrities? And kinda has a wealthy hetero white women's feminism bent myb? ;) I assumed it would be more news-y. In any case, you might like Death, Sex & Money . It's not specifically about women, but it's hosted by a woman (Anna Sale), women are often guests and the show frequently discusses taboo/difficult subject matter related to how women (and others) experience the world. EDIT: re Women's Hour - I was just thinking more about this and it occurred to me that I have heard that in the UK, casual transphobia has long been normalized in media/entertainment, even more than in the US.

Answer (1 of 5): Good question that I really don’t think I’ve git a good answer for. Podcasts so far have definitely been targeted at topics and most probably end up being directed towards men even if it’s an accident ( even though I doubt it was accidental) .
