Creating google workspace account using existing domain email?
Ok, so technically this could become what is known as an unmanaged account. My recommendation is to set up a new Google Workspace subscription with a different email address. Then add a user account with the email address that you are worried about. You'll be given the option to manage the user and bring them into the Google Workspace subscription. That will bring any connections they have to 3rd party apps and websites as well. Then, if you don't want 2 users in your Google Workspace subscription, make the second user a super admin and delete the first account. Hopefully that's all clear - DM me if you want more help. You definitely can, but you should think twice, and then some more, about moving your family to GSuite account. There are consumer related limitations such as: not all consumer products are available (Stadia) and functionality (Assistant or even bigger Nest, Google One etc). If you planning to make purchases on Google Store or Google Play using your GSuite account there is no option to migrate your data - so most likely you will loose access to them if you stop paying for GSuite service. In order words: total vendor lock in without any easy way to get out. I suppose you can put your names there. I'm not sure how to change tax profile but I don't think you can so it needs to stay as business even if it's not. Office365 or Microsoft365 (whatever it's called now) might offer less restrictive service for family account, with custom e-mail which can be used as your Google account without GMail. August 9, 2020Bad decision to sign up for G Suite Business?
Having used both ACD and GSuites, I can honestly say that Gsuites has been more reliable. Speeds are similar but I have had no failed uploads on Gsuites ever! For large files, rclone used to try multiple times before succeeding in uploading wasting bandwidth in the process.
Something else to consider, ACD is a consumer product, Gsuites is an enterprise product with all the added benefits and less probable tendency to screw over the buyers.
As for your questions:

I receive the monthly invoice on both my gsuites email and the email I used to sign up. So yes this is possible. However I have simply configured the gsuites email in the gmail app on my iPad so I can monitor it if something ever comes up. The app works well with multiple accounts.

A while ago I created a google account (but not a gmail account) using my own domain, to use some google services (not gmail) using [email protected].
The e-mail account itself was hosted elsewhere (namecheap) because I didn't want to pay for Google Workspace, although my namecheap subscription for the email hosting has now expired as I stopped using it.
I now want to get a google workspace account, and I want to sign up using the same address [email protected] as the account admin.
There is no data associated with the account that I care about, and at this point I wish i had never created it!
Is it possible to just sign up to Workspace using [email protected]? If I do this, will my old account just be migrated to a different address like @googleapps.com or something?
I've tried to find an answer to this but couldn't find anything for my exact situation, any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm too worried about messing something up to continue!

Yes. If you don't care about migrating any of the email over, you just go get GWS. When you do the GWS set up, you will have to create DNS records pointing to GWS to verify your email. When you do so, delete the DNS records that point to namecheap's email solution.
