And while it is not our first time here at the Kennedy Library in Boston we are so glad to be back. We are so sorry for the violence and terror you have endured. We know what that is like. I saw combat in Iraq and Kuwait, and Gabby lived through a mass shooting.

I remember watching an interview with Gabby and her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, not too far after the shooting took place. It was very apparent that Gabby’s speech output was severely limited, mostly single words and occasional short phrases. To go from that to giving such an amazing speech on national television is nothing short of amazing.
