Does anyone have experience with using canned cooking gels (https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/woods-2-5-hour-ethanol-gel-cooking-fuel-for-camping-equipment-chafing-dishes-fondue-226-g-0762107p.html?loc=plp)? How long does it take to boil 2 cups of water? Any downsides?
For this trip, I fly into my destination and only need fuel for 6 boils. Gel seems to be my best option. Normally, I use alcohol but would be pouring 800 ml down the nearest drain with the smallest bottle for purchase. This destination has no convenient hazardous disposal bins for half empty isobutane canisters. The trail rules do not allow for wood burning.
Anyone know where to buy fondue fuel? It's like some kind of gel. Thanks lads!
I want to DIY the fuel gel myself, but am not having luck finding the right-sized cans.
