This is a list of 700 German words (525 Nouns & 175 Adjectives) with identical or very similar spelling in English, found here on this Google Sheet document, which you can access without an account.

I picked these words from a very recent study of the 4000 most-used words in the German language, performed by Routledge. So not only are they easy words to memorize, but also important vocabulary to learn.

Every word has the same meaning in both languages. I sorted them in 3 groups according to spelling similarities. Words of Group 1 have the same spelling in both languages. Group 2 are words that you will automatically recognize in English simply by reading the German spelling. Group 3 are the ones that show the most variation. While this list isn't meant to be exhaustive (700 is a random number), I gave priority to the words that seemed the easiest to memorize based on how similar they were to the English translation, in both spelling + pronunciation. German is considered one of the closest languages to English, so there should be a few thousand words like these.

I recommend you to study these words using Quizlet. It will give you the pronunciation of the words (even if the words are written the same, don't trust they'll be pronounced the same). It is also very easy to import the words into Quizlet. Go to "create set", then look for the option "import" under the set's title, and simply copy/paste the words from the Google Sheet.
