I used to send out queries to publishing companies but frankly, it's more trouble than it's worth. I have a book traditionally published but ugh, way too much effort to do it again. I have some fanfics or stories under a pseudonym scattered here and there but I would like to publish a book I have online and get some payment if the story is popular. Do any of you have advice on where to go?

Forget the traditional publishing market. A book shouldn't take 6-12 months to be published anymore. The market walks on a much faster rhythm, entertainment an information nowadays are consumed on demand via streaming and subscriptions. I also have a book published by a traditional publisher but I have been working on a new project and I have been publishing it on my own via Substack (where I charge $5 for the subscription and access to limited content)

You could try to monetize a blog, but unless you're really great at self-promotion that would most likely be difficult, and I don't think the earning potential is great. Otherwise you could try to publish essay collections or something like that.
