Hello, For about 1 month Gmail seems to tell me that I have an unread message with the notification "Inbox (1)". However, when I look at my inbox I do not find any unread messages. In the meantime I have received many new messages that I have been able to read, without the notification "Inbox (1)" disappearing after reading all my new messages.
This notification appears on both PC and iPhone. I have already filtered all my emails and marked them all as read just in case but it doesn't change anything.
Does anyone have a solution?
This worked for me. Go to the Settings icon - choose settings - click on Inbox and near the top is a box called Inbox type - you can select 'Unread first' from that menu - scroll down to save your changes and the missing emails should appear.
There is one thing you can try to see unread emails. I recommend you to enable unread email first on the page. For this
- Open Gmail account.
- Go to Settings on Gear icon.
- Under Inbox tab, next to Inbox type, choose Unread first.
- Below this choose the number of emails you wish to see which are unread.
- Save the Changes.
I hope this helps!
Doesn't seem to be, the search is the only way as of now, however; if you use the browser there is an option to view only unread emails.
is:unread doesn't work well because it also shows up the archived emails that are also unread but uninteresting.
As of 2021, a better way is to do Settings -> Unread first
I'm one of those people who don't like to see xxx unread emails in my Inbox.
Right now I have 38 unread emails in the Inbox section, out of 13000 plus emails. But I cannot find a way to filter just for those unread messages. I've manually scanned page per page and either deleting those old unread emails or opening and reading them, and have managed to get it down to 38 from the original 70 or so. I'm sure there must be a quicker to filter this?
I tried:
in:inbox AND is:unread AND to:me
and I get all the unread emails from Updates and Promotion categories also.
When I use the Filter dialog, I can select Inbox but there's no option to select Unread messages.
Any ideas?
