April 22, 2021This is the official Google Fi desktop app for Chrome, and I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to get it onto my new laptop!

As others have said, messages for web works with any carrier as long as you have an Android phone. The main difference is that with Fi you can also make calls from the web using your mobile number which you cannot do on any other carrier. More on reddit.com

Did you get any improvement on this? I've had a Pixel 7 for 2-3 weeks but my battery performance has CRATERED the last few days, I believe after my phone processed an update. Google Fi is the app using the most battery by a mile when compared to other background apps. More on reddit.com

I ordered a Galaxy S21 Plus. Using the Google Fi app, I got the phone working, and the number ported. Data, calls and texts all seem to work flawlessly.
But I bought this phone for my wife to use. Not me. The number I ported in is her phone number. But since I ordered the phone from my Google account to give to her I have to log into Google Fi app with my email address and password. I don't like the idea of every contact that I have, and I have a whole lot more than her, showing up on her phone and all my emails showing up on her phone.
So I removed the Google Fi app. Everything still seems to work perfectly fine.
Do I actually need it for anything that I'm not thinking of? Does the app affect network switching? Connections to wifi hotspots? Wifi calling? Honestly have no idea and I'm looking for clarification.
