B2B SaaS Google Ads: What Images Work Best? Screenshots Allowed?
Honestly don’t need to reinvent the wheel here. Stay away from anything super text heavy, I don’t think I’ve ever needed to use any images with lots of text, Just something that can show a little bit about what your product is or business is. Make it eye catching - the main function of an image extension is to simply draw attention and take up more space on the SERP. More on reddit.com
Image extensions vs Dynamic image extensions
Google recommends doing both. Not that you should do everything Google tells you! I've been happy with the dynamic images, so far Google's not chosen anything daft. And at least you get to see what it chose. Have also added images manually. Found it quite quick to do, sometimes at campaign level, sometimes at ad group level. Puppy and kitten images resulted in 40% CTR for an animal sanctuary's ads. On every account I've added them they've outperformed most other types of extensions... but only got shown on ~ 15-20 impressions, mostly mobile. More on reddit.com

Comprehensive Guide to Google Ads Image Extensions - Codefixer
June 15, 2021 - As always, with any Dynamic vs Standard features within Google Ads, the main benefit of the former vs the latter is that we can have much better control over which content we are displaying to users seeing our ads in the SERPs. At Codefixer, we have found it particularly useful to segment the image extensions as much as possible. Results tend to be best when the image most closely reflects the ad, landing page, and keyword that they appear alongside. For example, if you have a campaign for “Mens’ Footwear”, and an ad group each for; “Mens’ Work Boots”, “Mens’ Adidas Trainers”, “Mens’ Wellington Boots”, and “Mens’ Slippers” it’s best to find images that match the ad groups, rather than finding one image for “Mens’ Footwear”. Pretty straightforward stuff, but I thought that would be worth highlighting.

r/PPC on Reddit: B2B SaaS Google Ads: What Images Work Best? Screenshots Allowed?
October 23, 2024 -
I’m running Google Ads for a B2B SaaS company and want to include images. For those with experience, what types of images have you used? Have you tried adding screenshots, and if so, do they comply with Google’s “no text on images” rule? Are screenshots considered “text” in this case? Would love to hear about any experiments or insights you’ve had!

Screenshots such as a splash screen or graph can work if there is no text or regular screen if the text is too small to detect as text. If your software serves a particular industry, like mining for e.g., it's appropriate to show mining equipment to align your product with the niche market.
