March 2, 2024 -
Whats the difference between google analytics and search console? Because i get different data on the two tools. Also on google search console, it says that there is 10 clicks, but none of the queries have any clicks. Then how did i event get the 10?
On GSC it says 10 clicks, and on analytics it says 51 users and 50 new users. What does all of this mean? Could anyone also explain some of the other terms please?

Google Search Console tracks your performance in search results (as much as Google will give you, at least) whereas Google Analytics tracks traffic to your website. Clicks != Sessions, so the numbers will vary. There are a number of reasons that sessions will be lower than clicks (for example, if the GA4 script does not load or loads improperly or is blocked). Your GA screenshot appears to be showing all users, not limiting to organic search - that would explain the massive difference. Google Search Console anonymizes click data to a degree, with that few clicks you will likely not see the queries that led to the clicks but you will be able to see the pages that earned the clicks (and infer a bit from there what query someone might have searched). This can be a pain if you have a website with a small sample size, but as you get more data into Google Search Console you'll get more visibility into what queries are driving clicks.

I'm curious about this myself. In my case, for example, GSC says I'm getting 25k clicks per month but GA says 12k sessions and 10k users. Does that mean 13k of the clicks never resulted in a session?
