Govee has become so popular over the last few years and now with the permanent outdoor lights, I'm seeing their name everywhere. You would think that with that kind of popularity and the income it must be generating, they would have a first class app. Not so. For the most part, I muddle through it and manage to make it work and I use Alexa for all automation. I searched for tutorials and apparently Govee has none and the how-to videos on YouTube are mostly about outside lights and connecting your lights to the app. I have gotten a few tips from this group but there are still things I would love to know how to do in this app as well as app features that I have no idea how to use. Yes, let's talk about the app!!! P. S. You save the designs that other people have made by clicking on the outlined STAR at the bottom of their post. This are the only supported devices on govee desktop app.
I have the same model as yours and the only thing im able to control with my desktop is to turn on/off, change brightness, and color to a static one. For all of this you need to install Lux.
One thing i really love about Lux is the fact that it is used via cmd commands, allowing me to create a script to turn the lights on when i turn on the pc and turn off the lights when i turn off the pc.

So now that I have my permanent outdoor lights installed, I am curious how others are getting along in the app. I am not a huge fan of the pre-programmed Xmas patterns available so tonight I went looking through some of the shared content. I didn’t realize how much stuff was there. I found a pattern I like and applied it. Looks great. But how do I save that pattern now?
That’s just one example. I’ve seen other posts from people complaining about the app. Let’s talk about it and share any tips/tricks.
Or maybe it’s not worth it and I should just go the WLED route?

I feel like I'm going to go the way of WLED as well. u/Govee hasn't done much in the way of making it more intuitive despite all the complaints. They need a UX designer. Also hasn't been friendly to the smart home management systems either(Hubitat, HA, Vera, etc). Just bring a bit more open about their API would go s long ways as there are already developers painfully deciphering what's going on and adding clunky functionality based on what they can figure out. I think if they worked on those 2 pain points they would have the smart devices market nailed down and very hard for competitors to catch up to them.

Apparently Govee's schedule function only allows you to turn on the light at a specific time, but doesn't let you gradually brighten the light until that time.
Are there any other apps that can do this and are compatible with Govee LED strips?

I've only used Google Home beside the Govee official app and Google's work better. Somehow it connects and does actions faster than the Govee app which sometimes fails to connect to the lights.
