I plan to buy Graco 4ever car seat.how is this car seat? Will I not need infant car seat?

I have this one for my daughter and it’s a great seat. It fits in most cars and works both forward facing and rear facing (and booster I think?). Technically, no, you wouldn’t need an infant car seat on top of that one but infant car seats have their perks of being easy to take in and out of the car, fits on strollers, etc, which is extremely useful when your little one is young.

I mean, you technically don't need an infant car seat but they are convenient, especially if they can clip into your stroller. I gave birth in the winter and felt much safer carrying the baby from the house to car when in the car seat. Infant car seats are also great for doctors appointments too.

I see information in the instruction booklet about when you should change from a rear facing to front facing car seat, but not when you can/should change from the most reclined position to something else. Are there general guidelines out there or does it typically vary by individual seat maker?

I'm not sure about the US but I have the Canadian Extend2fit. I was told by a CPST that under 3 months HAS to be in the 0+m indicator range but older babies can stay there and don't have to move to the 3+ because all babies are 0+. My 2 year old is 40lb (he's also like 40" tall and and weighs more than his 4 year old sister 💀) and I have a Graco 4Ever DLX car seat. Currently it is attached with a seatbelt and not the latches. I am confused because the weight limit for the car seat says 65 pounds rear facing but the manual says kids 40-65 pounds should be front facing? I honestly am concerned about turning a 28 month old front because I know it's better for them to be rear facing as long as possible. But now I'm guessing it's not possible due to him being enormous. His sister is also still rear facing because she's 36 pounds and she's 4. I'm just not sure what protocol is about turning front facing as I haven't actually had to deal with this yet. Any advice would be great, thanks!

This seat is outgrown RF at 40lbs and requires him to be FF. Are you open to buying another car seat? There are a number of graco seats (and other brands) that have a higher RF weight limit at 50lbs that are in the $200 range. If not, he is safer to be FF in this car seat due to outgrowing the RF limits. Let us know if you have any questions about FF install. He'll need to use recline 4 or 5 until he's consistently over 40 lbs. Any supports (head and/or body) will need to come out for FF and make sure shoulder straps are at or right above shoulders for FF. ETA: install tips are for this seat specifically
