In my opinion and from what I could find silk and satin are quite similar, so if budget is an issue don't hesitate to go for satin. Silk is a bit better, but much more expensive. I use cheap caps, because I find they leave space for my hair without letting it move around too much (preventing tangles without feeling too restrictive). They don't leave a mark if they fit right, since it's a softer grip. I would suggest waiting until your hair is dry, as mine doesn't dry properly in the cap overnight. My hair doesn't like much handling when wet, so I take my dry (brushed) hair, wind it into a bit of a bun (no ties) and put the cap over it most nights. You can also do a proper bun, or braids under it. Very fast to brush out the next day. More on reddit.com
