Hamilton is here, fabulous as advertised | Vancouver Sun
June 1, 2022 - Hamilton is finally here, as fabulous as advertised, with one caveat. The most lauded musical of our generation, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s audacious treatment of American founding father Alexander Hamilton arrives in Vancouver seven years after its Broadway debut in a scintillating touring production.

Hamilton at Queen Elizabeth Theatre | Queen Elizabeth Theatre
November 2, 2021 - Both Hamilton and Burr meet their children for the first time after the battle for Yorktown and both have hope that they can build a better country and that their children can do the same. The show is by its nature kinetic, the story of a nation constantly in motion, “just like my country, I’m young, scrappy and hungry” in the musical’s iconic phrase, shown by a cast constantly in motion, in capturing these elements that the superb touring production now at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre shines its very brightest.

Anyone else catch the Hamilton Touring production lately? It’s currently in New Orleans. I’ve yet to see it on Broadway but have seen the original cast on Disney+ quite a few trillion times. As excited as I was to see it, we were sadly disappointed in the energy from the main cast. Anyone else feel the same or is it just me and my crew? Lol

I've seen it twice live- The beauty of theater is the multiple takes from different actors. It's likely never going to get better than the original cast but there will be glimpses of greatness and parts that are done better or differently and keep it fresh. Sometimes you catch the show on a bad night with low energy and that's just theater...

I saw the tour when it was in Greensboro. I'd say the cast was a mixed bag. For example, Zoe Jensen, who plays Eliza, was absolutely amazing and honestly rivaled Phillipa Soo. The actor who played Burr, however, was a complete dud and it really distracted. Washington did a VERY different interpretation of the character that I really liked. If you don't go into it with huge expectations and definitely don't try to compare/contrast with the original cast but just allow the production and experience to exist as its own thing, it's very enjoyable. Not really fair to compare an actor in a traveling cast to, say, Leslie Odom Jr.
