This was a really fun party activity for the kids! Take a look at our DIY magic wizard wand tutorial for more details on how to make your own, and where to get the supplies. After the lesson, we let the kids unwind with a fun game of Quidditch. We made the goals from smaller hula hoops attached to inexpensive tomato stakes. We used the quaffle that Little Jo bought when we visited The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and we provided some ordinary straw brooms for the kids to "ride".

September 1, 2021 - I started by using the leftover pumpkins we had around the house from Halloween and Thanksgiving (Henry’s birthday is at the end of November). Pumpkins are Potter-ish, right? I added in some star garlands that I had from our New Year’s Eve stash and spread them around the house. And the only other decoration I made was the floating broomsticks! March 31, 2022 - Instead of a birthday cake, I served Harry Potter Cupcakes. These were sorting hat cupcakes, each cupcake was filled with buttercream coloured in one of the four Hogwarts house colours.

April 30, 2023 - After the wand, they got to take a picture with the HAVE YOU SEEN THIS WIZARD sign and in front of the platform 9 and 3/4 backdrop next to the life size Harry Potter characters (scroll down to see all the decorations from our Birthday in a Box). ... For Herbology, we got owl ceramic pots (both these and these) and potted succulents as Mandrakes and had the children repot the succulents into their owl planters as fast as they could, water them, and keep these Harry Potter-themed plants as party favors.
