What would you think of an option of being able purchase digital movies and TV at 4k and/or Blu-ray quality that allows you to download full quality mkv or similar files without the use of a digital locker or drm oversight?

Title says it all, but save for the headache of ripping blurays for our own digital locker needs, there's no obvious legal way to own digital copies outside of lockers.
Anyone think this will ever happen? Or will companies want to make sure that we're under their control at all times and a true digital-only solution will never exist? For those that mostly consume media through "other means", would it interest you to pay for the media if this kind of option existed?
Much like physical media before it, in this scenario you'd own the file and have access to a cloud download at all times. If they want to upsell an 8k copy years from now you'd have to repurchase as we have in the past for previous physical media upgrades.
Might get downvoted to hell and I'm sure I'm not the only person to bring this up but it's still a very relevant question as we move into 2026.
I searched all the streaming websites for new movies, but I only found them in camera quality(cinema). However, I found some people got them in high quality.
Is there a website where I can find all the latest movies, like zootopia 2 or SpongeBob, in high quality as soon as they are released?
So yeah, big news Snoy is making a new Helldivers movie and (while it may not be available in over 100 countries) I am excited but also worried.
Taking a look at modern video game movies, most are just executive corpo slop, like I can just off the top of my head think about how bad that minecraft movie is. We do have some in modern day like the Sonic movies which are decently good, especially since they took the time to fix that god awful travesty they called sonic.
But early 2000's they were a lot more common. Taking a look back a lot of these movies were hated but, today looking back in a retrospective they did more for video game movies than most modern films do.
For instance the Doom movie with the Rock, I didn't like it growing up but after watching it again lately, it honestly feels closer to the video game than the more modern films ever did. (some weird things is that they portray the monsters as zombies instead of demons etc) but, the game even had a first person shooter scene and ya know that was the monster closet era of doom so when you actually compare it with what they had to base it off of, yeah actually decent.
The tomb raider movies, not very good but again, looking back they kinda actually give off more video game vibes.
Same goes for the OG Mortal Kombat movies, while not very good they actually keep up with the costumes and also have the iconic music and today, they are fun to watch to be honest. (also I think the new ish movie with the more series tone arent bad but they kinda have departed from the video game world).
I hope that the Snoy people or whoever makes the movie actually takes the time to play the games and really just make a fun movie with deep ties to the game. Otherwise when you depart from that you get things like the Halo show. (though I will say the fallout show is okay and fun). I hope they also consult all the devs and the people working at arrowhead and make something cool.
I hope they stick with the faceless, nameless helldivers and just focus on the show don't tell aspect, kinda like the first season of the Mandalorian. Its gonna be many, many years before we see anything so time will tell how it goes.
I live in Australia and I have to watch the 4K version on Disney+ each year, because on Apple where I purchased Home Alone 2 many years ago, it’s still only the HD version. Anyone in America know if you guys have the 4K over there? If so… why is it only HD in Australia? There’s something weird about the colouring in the HD version. It’s almost… orangey.
is Ultra HD 4k blue ray dvd way better then streaming Movies in 4k?
Better format, right?
I have a nice LG C4 OLED 4k tv and a nice Samsung Surround set Q990D
Thinking of starting Ultra HD collection and getting a nice Panasonic DP-UB820 player.
thanks
