I want to wed 2 of these Hemnes Shoe cabinets together to create some storage near my backdoor however I only have about 190cm/75" to work with. Below is a link to the shoe cabinet and an example of what I am trying to do, unfortunately all the blog posts don't have dimensions.

My plan was to remove one of the sides and punch a few new holes to wed them together, then replace the top completely with a single piece of wood to fit. The problem is I don't know how much space I will save by removing one of the sides, does anyone have one of these and would they be able to tell me what the width from the outside of one of the front legs to the inside of the other would be?

Does anyone have the exact measurements of the width of the 2 compartment Hemnes shoe cabinet? IKEA specs say its 35” , but is the 35” measured from the top (with the top board piece that overhangs the cabinet)? I want to install 2 of these but my space is 63”. Trying to see if I can make it work by wedding two together and cutting the overhang off the top board. If anyone has done this and if they could measure the width of theirs for me I would be super grateful!

Hemnes 2 compartment

Hoping someone can help. I really want to use the Hemnes 2 compartment shoe cabinet in our entry way - only one problem it's 35 wide and I have around 34.25 in the space I want to use it. I'm thinking I could cut down the top so there's no overhang on the sides, but would like to know the width of the cabinet w/out the top to see if this is worth pursuing. The closest IKEA to me is about 2 hours away or I'd go get the measurements myself. Could someone in this sub provide this measurement for me? I have checked the website and couldn't find any info.
