Costco’s New Premium Cognac—Could It Be Hennessy?
Costco Cognac - how is it? Are there name brands it is similar to?
First non-VS purchase?
I would avoid the Hennessy on volume reasons alone. What if it's not your cup of tea (it wasn't mine)? Too bad - better settle in because you've got almost two liters to get through. I don't know the other two and always suggest Remy or Martell as VSOP entry points.

I was doing some Christmas shopping at Costco today, hoping to catch some Black Friday deals for the kids, when I stumbled across something unexpected: a handle of Costco’s new premium cognac.
Now, I’m usually a Hennessy drinker—it’s expensive but worth it. Hennessy is the only alcohol that never gives me a hangover, and it’s my go-to when I’m looking to drink and enjoy myself. Costco typically sells handles of Hennessy for $74.99, which is already a solid deal compared to other stores.
But today, right up front, Costco had their new cognac displayed for $47 a handle. I couldn’t resist grabbing one to try. At that price, if it’s anything close to Hennessy, it’s a steal.
So here’s my question: Do you think this is Hennessy under a different label, or did Costco actually create their own cognac? (For context, cognac legally has to be made in France.)
I’m planning to try it this Saturday and will report back with my thoughts. But for now, I’m curious—has anyone else seen or tried this? What are your thoughts?
