Just a quick Question, Are Chapter 3 & 4 still happening?

I really hope so, as I enjoyed Chapter 1 and I am excited for Chapter 2. However, from what I read, Costner hasn't begun fully filmed Chapter 3 and 4 yet. I just hope that Costner get to completed this western series.

I work with two crew guys who worked on Horizon 1 and 2 down in Southern Utah. They loved it and are burning to go back and have been told "don't book anything" for February 2025. Not that they would, the industry is dead dead dead here in Utah since the strike. Nothing's shaking. A few commercials, a few Hallmark movies, some Yellowstone/Madison/Landman work, nothing else. This means absolutely nothing it terms of commitment to actual shooting start-up. Regarding the Venice unveiling of Horizon 2, then no subsequent release. Sometimes films unveil at a film festival to secure a distribution deal and the reception isn't good, then no deal is brokered and the movie is shelved or sits. I worked on a fairly big production in Covid featuring some Oscar winners & nominees (with all those nasty Covid protocols in place) that was unveiled at the next Toronto. It went over like a lead balloon and has been shelved ever since. The critical reception for Horizon 2 after Venice wasn't redeeming. Most critics who hoped it would fix the flaws of 1 said it was just more of the same. This wouldn't help it secure distribution financing because 1 didn't do well at the box office. I think we're going to have to wait to see how 1 does at Max for a chance that HBO will say, "Okay we'll take two and give you x amount of reduced dollars to film more."

Kevin Costner On The Future Of His Ambitious Four-Part ‘Horizon: An American Saga’ Film Series: “I Will Figure Out A Way” – He said before that production for 'Chapter 3' is underway. He didn’t specify how far along, but promised, “I’m going to make 3.”

What ever happened to Chapter 2? That premiered in Venice in September, and there has been zero updates ever since. They simply said late 2024, but the year is almost over and we don't have a release date. More on reddit.com
