I know this is an old thread, but for anyone considering buying furniture from Houzz, DO NOT! They are an absolute scam. Estimated delivery times are flat out invented, they confirmed that they would cancel delivery (minus a hefty charge) due to the delay, only to attempt re-delivery multiple times (with no notice) until they got our unwitting contractor to sign when we were not home. DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE. IT IS A NIGHTMARE. More on reddit.com

I think you typically know what you’re getting a bit better with ikea, and I’ve liked some of their mid-to-higher priced lines. Overstock has some gems, but has been more hit or miss especially at the lower end of pricing. I think it’s really just look at materials and then decide what you like better. Wayfair is much like overstock. It’s hard to tell if you’re in a forever home or just settled for now, but I will say our ikea Hemmnes dressers survived a multi-state move quite well. My rubber wood overstock bedroom furniture is showing how many times we’ve moved it and could use the drawer slides replaced, but otherwise still looks quite good. My favorite option for most things good quality AND cheap is always Facebook marketplace. Lots of people selling wood furniture at decent prices, I regularly see much higher quality pieces for less than Ikea would charge new. For bedding, I’ve been extremely pleased with Target’s threshold line (I like them better than our expensive sheets). I’ve had good luck with rugs.com for regular rugs, and really like tumble for washable rugs. More on reddit.com
